‘Play Therapy in Action – An Introduction to the Core Skills of a Play Therapist’
The ‘Play Therapy in Action’ training DVD has been compiled by BAPT to demonstrate some of the core skills and key elements of a Play Therapist’s work. Footage includes examples of how a Play Therapist might conduct a referral meeting with a parent, an introductory session with a child, a review meeting with a parent and an ending with a child. In between there are many examples to illustrate key Play Therapy skills such as engaging and building rapport with a child, empathising with a child’s feelings, showing acceptance, being playful, offering permissiveness and setting boundaries and limits.
The DVD is not intended as any alternative or substitute for completion of a BAPT accredited training programme but will be a valuable resource for those on training or those interested in learning more about what the work of a Play Therapist entails.
