  I have experience working in

After a long career in education, primarily teaching and leading within Early Years settings, I transitioned into a school-based pastoral role within Gloucestershire. During this time, I worked as a Designated Safeguarding Lead, Mental Health Lead, Pastoral Lead, and Family Support Worker, supporting children, young people, and families with a wide range of emotional and social needs. I began training as a Play Therapist in 2020 and have since worked with children and young people aged 3–18 across both primary and secondary settings. I have experience supporting children with a range of additional needs and presenting difficulties, including anxiety, neglect, abuse, family breakdown, loss and bereavement, and trauma. I have also worked extensively with children and young people who are care experienced. Over the past three years, I have worked alongside other Play Therapists to help establish and develop a thriving non-profit play therapy centre delivering Play Therapy and Filial Therapy-informed practice. Alongside my play therapy training, I have completed the Intensive 4-Day Filial Therapy Training and hold the Advanced Certificate in Therapeutic Life Story Work, further strengthening my therapeutic work with children, families, and relational trauma. I am now offering sessions within private practice, providing a warm, safe, and nurturing therapeutic space to support children, young people, and families with their emotional wellbeing and development.

  Theoretical Approach

I use a child-centred play therapy approach. My work is informed by the principles of humanistic, non-directive theory; with some directive work if deemed appropriate.

I believe in the magic of play therapy to unlock emotions, promote self-expression, and nurture inner growth. I support children/young people, families, schools and other professionals in exploring and understanding a wide array of presenting issues and ways to improve well-being for the child/young person.

  I have experience working in

I have experience of working with children who have attachment difficulties (including looked after children and newly adopted children); have experienced trauma through abuse (including sexual) and neglect; have difficulties processing loss. Having previously been a Clinical Lead for a children's service, I have an excellent understanding of safeguarding and systemic working. My earlier professional role as a primary school teacher, has equipped me with a strong understanding of child development and practical strategies that could help your child with any support they may need in the classroom. I have previous Play Therapy experience within CLEAR, Barnardo’s and Jigsaw (Cornwall Council's Post Sexual Abuse Therapeutic Team). I have been a BAPT Approved Clinical Supervisor since 2020, and following on from the Getting Started as a Clinical Supervisor 5-day training, went on to complete my Post Graduate Certificate in Clinical Supervision in 2024. I am an active member of the BAPT Clinical Supervision Sub-committee. I bring a wealth of practice experience to my supervisory role and understand the challenges of being self-employed, as well as working within organizations.

  Theoretical Approach

I adopt a primarily non-directive approach to individual child Play Therapy - integrating more focused work if required to address any negative misconceptions a child might have. I also offer dyadic support through Neuro-Dramatic-Play Therapy and Filial Therapy. Within my Clinical Supervision practice, I have a particular interest in offering supervisees the opportunity for creative exploration within their supervision, in order to deepen understanding, enhance professional practice and protect against secondary trauma.

Bereavement and Loss, neurodiversity and SEND. Prior to becoming a Play Therapist, I have worked for many years within education, predominately within the special needs sector with children and young people with additional barriers to learning, such as developmental trauma, family separation, bereavement, neurodiversity and attachment interruptions. Through my educational experience and play therapy training, I have developed a broad knowledge base and deep understanding of child development and child-centred integrative way of therapeutic working This has given me the skills to listen compassionately and to understand, from their perspective, why children feel, behave and express their emotions in a particular way. To date, I have worked with children who have experienced bereavement, parental separation, anxiety, social isolation and friendship worries, social, emotional and behaviour regulation struggles. As a fully qualified BAPT Play Therapist, with a MSc in Play Therapy from the University of South Wales, it is a privilege to support and work-alongside children who are finding life tough. Within a child-centred integrative approach, I work respectfully, sensitively and empathically in a trustful, non-judgemental way with families, and wider support networks, to help children heal and find their joy. I have experience working in

Schools and the charity sector. I have worked with children who have social and emotional difficulties, witnessed domestic violence, experiencing anxiety, bereavement and loss, attachment difficulties and trauma. Having taught in primary schools for over 10 years, I have a good understanding of some of the social and emotional difficulties children face every day. I have seen how trauma can impact a child’s ability to learn and function effectively in everyday life. This encouraged me to retrain as a Play Therapist. I use this knowledge to enhance my work in the play room. I work creatively, putting the child at the heart of the therapy, giving them time and space to make sense of their world whilst providing a safe, nurturing environment. I work holistically, building excellent therapeutic relationships with children, their families and other professionals around the child. ***SORRY NO AVAILABILITY**

  Theoretical Approach

Child-centred, non-directive approach underpinned by attachment and child development theories. I can adopt a more integrative approach where necessary.

  I have experience working in

I bring a wealth of experience in working with children and young people across a variety of educational settings, including both mainstream and special education environments. My work is grounded in a deep commitment to supporting children and young people in achieving their full potential, regardless of the challenges they may face. I have a particular interest in helping those with additional needs, such as autism spectrum conditions, learning disabilities, or physical difficulties. Beyond this, I have significant experience working with children from diverse family backgrounds, including adopted children, who often benefit from tailored approaches that address their unique circumstances. As a male therapist, I frequently work with boys aged 8 to 16, providing a safe, supportive, and understanding environment where they can feel comfortable expressing themselves. I take pride in building strong, trusting relationships that foster personal growth, emotional resilience, and improved well-being. My approach is always child-centred, aiming to empower each individual to thrive in their way.

  Theoretical Approach

I believe that every child, young person and family has their own unique experiences and needs. I will therefore adjust my approach to meet the individual needs and circumstances of the child, whilst aiming to support their family and those who know them.
